What is it that you don’t know that you need to know? Have you ever said “Why didn’t I think of that?” Or how about this “Why didn’t you think of that?”

We’ve all used and heard these questions before.

I was playing golf with the Chairman of the Board for a local bank and he asked me to share the most frequent small business issue that I see encouonter. I shared that while everyone is different their are many similarities The following challenges occur quite frequently::

• Priority management and Productivity
• Teamwork and Leadership
• Discovering new leads and opportunities
• Earning More Revenue
• Stress and Time Management
• Work life balance

The #1 issue regardless of success however, is blind spots. Blind spots are hazardous to everyone’s business health. Everyone has limits. We are all limited by what we know and what we think we know that might not be true. It’s what you don’t know and what you think you know that isn’t true that kills you.

For most of us if we had known then what we know now we would have avoided a couple of hard knocks.”

Here’s the catch though; we can’t stop progress and we know mistakes will be made. So how should one go about discovering those blind spots and minimize mistakes?

Continuous Improvement and Innovation is the key. The only way to stay on top is to continually expose yourself to new innovative ideas, solutions, and concepts that are outside of your current thinking. Align yourself with appropriate support and you’ll learn how to unveil, and avoid, the most obvious blind spots. Don’t try to do it all by yourself. Resources are available to help. Whether you have more time than money or vice versa you’ll reap an unexpected benefit and exponentially outperform your competitors.
